God Gave Her a Gift

By Hollywood standards she would not be considered remotely attractive. No one would mistake her for a runway model or a modern fashion statement. Sophisticated polish is absent. Genuineness and gentleness is exuded in abundance. When she walked onto the stage on the Britain’s Got Talent television show the judges and audience snickered and rolled their eyes. The cynicism of the crowd she stood before was obvious. They were ready to laugh at her, mock her, and perhaps worst of all, dismiss her.

But then… the music began and forty-seven year old Susan Boyle began to sing. The reaction of the audience and judges was astonishing. Instead of laughter, there was awe and there were tears. Much of the world now knows that she has been given a gift from God; a voice that not only pleases the ear but touches the heart of the listener.

God has given each of us gifts. It may not be a beautiful singing voice or the power of the orator. Nevertheless, He has given us talents that with His help and guidance, we can touch the lives of others. We should relish the opportunity to use those gifts for Him because He has given us the greatest gift found in the person of His Son.
