I Did It My WayI know, already. I know. I did it again. As many times as I have gotten bad results from this behavior, a behavior some would consider self-destructive, you would think I would learn. But noooooooo. I have to keep doing it. I’ve thought about counseling or therapy but the cost and time invested in those things seem prohibitive. Besides that, I don’t think all the counseling in the world will make me change these behavior patterns. It’s not that I don’t try. I get a map of the state, a map of the county, a Map Quest print-out of the directions, and even personalized directions and I still have to try another way, and in turn, every short cut I take turns into a frustrating long-cut. At least at the end of the day I can sing with Frank Sinatra, [I Did It] My Way. Unfortunately, my way got me lost, again. Our God has given
us a clearly written road map found in His Word. The directions are clear.
The destination is unbelievably desirable. He helps us on the journey.
But how often do we decide to travel our way and end up in a quagmire
of frustration? How many times do we need to become lost on our journey
before we realize that He is the Way? As we enter a new year, instead
of singing “I did it my way” with Sinatra, let’s enjoy
the journey anticipating the destination as we choose to do it His way.
