Santa's Watching YouOur youngest grandson believes in Santa Claus. Even though Andrew is only four he understands most of the nuances of The Claus. Santa comes on Christmas Eve, slips down a chimney, if one is available, leaves presents, and has cookies and milk for a treat. Back up the chimney he goes to rejoin the reindeer waiting on the roof. Andrew also knows that the Santa experience is related to behavior and Claus keeps a list of who’s naughty and who’s nice. How he keeps such close tabs is a mystery to Andrew, but nevertheless, Santa is watching. This reality was made vividly clear in his home. After being chastised by his mother for some unacceptable behavior, Andrew was sent to his room for a time-out. Upon returning to good standing in the household, he declared to all, “Santa Claus is watching everything we do and he knows you yelled at me!” Personally, I don’t believe that there is a Santa Claus who knows everything we do and rewards us accordingly. I do, however, believe that there is a Creator, who not only knows what we do, but He knows our every thought. He is a Creator who loved His creation so much that He sent His Son to redeem us from all iniquity. I rejoice that He is more forgiving than Santa. |
