Cough Duda Cold

Are you suffering from cough duda cold? (If you are not a Forrest Gump fan, "Are you suffering from cough due to cold?") Stuffy nose? Post nasal drip? Headache? Fever? Congestion? Scratchy throat? Achy all over. Are you looking for the cure?

Have you tried antihistamines? How about decongestants? Cough syrup may help, but which is best? PE, DM, BLT? Maybe you should take two aspirin and call the doctor in the morning. Vicks VapoRub is an oldie but a goody. Make sure you keep it out of your eyes or you’ll have another problem. Maybe you could wrap yourself in an afghan and drink lots of tea and juice. Perhaps the classic chicken soup remedy will bring you some relief. All of the above have been recommended and used as a cure for the common cold. And some of them will help the symptoms but there is no cure for the common cold. It has to run its course and hopefully you will not suffer from a setback or a secondary malady.

Unfortunately, this is true of many infirmities. There is no cure. The victim simply has to suffer for a short time or worse. Fortunately, the greatest illness, and one that is more common than the common cold, does have a cure. It is the sickness of a burdened and weary heart. It is the soul that cries out for rest. Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 12:28-30) The Great Physician has the cure and you do not even have to wait until morning to make that call.
