The Shepherds' JourneyThey were compelled to make the journey. How could they not be? The message was undeniably clear. The opportunity was beyond imagination. They were common men who had been invited to see the King and those who extended the invitation had struck awe and delight in their hearts. The angelic messengers had made it clear. “[These] shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (Luke 2:15) They found Mary and Joseph and most of all they found the hope of the world in the presence of an infant. So excited were they at the outcome of their visit they spread the news to all they met. And those who heard the great news were amazed. We should all be compelled to journey to the presence of the Messiah for He is our hope. We will not be disappointed for in Him is life. We should all be as excited as the shepherds to share the news of the Messiah with all we meet. The greatest gift you can give this year is the hope, peace, light, and life that people can and will find in our Lord Jesus. |
