Silent Killer

Carbon monoxide can be deadly. It (CO) is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America. This odorless, tasteless, and colorless gas is known as the "Silent Killer” and the victim is often unaware that they are taking a deadly agent into their system.

This deadly poison mimics oxygen and ultimately replaces oxygen in the human or animal system. Red blood cells pick up CO quicker than they pick up oxygen. If there is a lot of CO in the air, the body may replace oxygen in blood with CO. This blocks oxygen from getting into the body, which can damage tissues and result in death.

Poor or self-destructive information is carbon monoxide to the mind and soul. We must always be guarded about the informational air that permeates our environment. Harmful data too easily supplants the healthy knowledge that makes us the type of individuals we should be. Paul says (See Phil.4:8) that we should think on those things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. These things are the metaphorical oxygen that will help us sustain a healthy spiritual life.
